Courtney Minor, PTA

Courtney Minor is an experienced Physical Therapist Assistant of 20 years. Since graduating from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, MO in 2006, she has excelled in assisting clients in a variety of settings. From the highly acute to those preparing to return home from inpatient rehabilitation, and her most unique clientele, future PTAs.

Courtney’s experience as a non-tenured educator for 3 years at Concorde Career College while continuing to work in the field gave her an advantage. She guided her students in real time, with real-world experience. With her assistance, students and clients alike have been able to grasp and understand difficult concepts, allowing for informed decisions, and increasing their autonomy regarding career preparation, and healthcare choices respectively. As an instructor she took initiative to reach out to local community programs, to allow her students to see real people, not patients. This initiative allowed her students to develop an element that can not be taught, empathy. To see the person first, hear their story and help them to the best of their ability. This immersive method changed the treatment approach from one of pity to empowerment.

Courtney has proven to continue to make significant strides in both skilled interventions and method of operation, as she has been director of rehabilitation in both Louisiana and Missouri respectively, and more recently working as traveling physical therapist assistant. Her ability to travel to locations previously unknown to her and instantly acclimate to the facilities, clients, staff, and local culture is a feat not for the faint of heart. It is this mind set of flexibility and adaptability that makes her qualified to speak with us today.

Her motivation: “Give people the power of choice.”

The more informed you are the more the choice is truly yours.
